Calvary partners with several nonprofits in San Francisco – going beyond the walls is a great way to be the church at work. Seeking guidance from Jesus' radical ministry, Calvary has several volunteer-led initiatives, such as our Racial Equity Initiative and Living Sanctuary Ministry supporting immigrants and refugees.

Join us at the Interfaith Food Pantry for a volunteer opportunity to help alleviate hunger and food insecurity. 7:30am-11:30am on Saturdays Feb 1, April 8, March 8, and May 10. This takes place at Old First Presbyterian at 1751 Sacramento Street. Click to sign up!
Volunteer Opportunity: Feeding unhoused men & women at the Interfaith Winter Shelter at 1187 Franklin Street @ O'Farrell (The First Unitarian Universalist Church) - We'll prepare and serve dinner from February 24 - March 2, 5:30pm-8:30pm. No experience needed, just a willingness to pitch in. Note: Covid vaccinations are not a requirement for persons experiencing homelessness to access the shelter. Click to sign up.

Would you like to be an Usher at Calvary?

Building community relies on being a welcoming and hospitable space for folks of all ages, races, orientations, and abilities to find respite and peace here at Calvary.

Our Ushers help welcome in our congregation - both new and familiar faces - before and during our 10am Sunday Service.

  • Greet people as they walk through the doors
  • Hand them a Sunday bulletin packet and any other handout we may have for them that day
  • Direct folks to Calvin Hall or the restrooms
  • Collect the offering toward the end of the service
  • Answer any questions people might have or find a staff person to help
