Church Beyond Sunday

Where is God calling You? For many people, being part of a faith community includes serving. Calvary offers ways to use your gifts of time and talent to make a difference in the community and around the world.


Volunteering and serving opportunities include working with Calvary’s Matthew 25 Partners for Change and other local nonprofit partners, as well as our Racial Equity Initiative and Living Sanctuary ministries. The church cultivates community partnerships where others can share their wisdom and guide our ministry.

Upcoming Faith in Action Events

Volunteer opportunity: calvary deacons invite you to Pack-A-Sack for Hungry Neighbors SUNDAY, MAY 17 CALVIN HALL • 11:15 AM Following worship on May 17 the Calvary Deacons invite you to Calvin Hall where we will pack hundreds of sack lunches for our hungry neighbors. The Deacons will organize the assembly line in advance so that our “many hands will make for light work.” Once packed, drivers will deliver Calvary’s meals to Martin’s Soup Kitchen (225 Potrero), the Urban Alchemy Oasis (200 Hyde), and Open Cathedral (87 McAllister, 2pm). Join Calvary in feeding the hungry and unhoused in our local community. The church has a long-standing volunteer commitment, in months that have a 5th Saturday, at Martin de Porres House of Hospitality to prepare, serve and clean up after a hot soup lunch for San Francisco’s hungriest citizens. Martin’s, as it is affectionately known, is a free restaurant, serving breakfast and lunch six days a week. Martin’s mission is to serve in the spirit of compassion, understanding and love. 
Saturdays January 31, May 30, Aug 29 Shift 1: 9-11:30am (food prep) Shift 2: 11:30am-3pm (food service & clean-up) If would like to volunteer from 9am - 3:00pm, please sign up for both shifts. Volunteers must be 15 years of age or older (ages 15-17 require a parent OR adult chaperone). Masks and gloves encouraged. Guests eat inside the dining room or outside in the courtyard.
