Senior Adults

For those young at heart (60+).

Find Fellowship at Calvary

Our Seniors are a lively crowd of artists, grandparents, travelers, singers, and more who join us weekly for 10am Sunday worship services or raise a ruckus at Senior Tuesdays. You are a welcomed addition to our happy band. You do not have to be a member of Calvary or espouse a religious tradition in order to participate wholeheartedly.

Senior Tuesdays

On the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, we hold special programming for Seniors (60+). If you're 18+, you are also welcome to join if you're interested in what we have going on! Most Senior Tuesday participants are not members of Calvary. All are welcome to find community here.

The 2nd Tuesday is usually a special presentation with topics like art, culture, music, safety, or health. 2nd Tuesday programs are followed by a soup and salad lunch for $5. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

The 4th Tuesday is a bring-your-own-lunch fellowship hour where Seniors are invited to eat and hang out. Currently, 4th Tuesdays include Tai Chi and oftentimes a volunteer service project.

During summer months, we hold two matinee screenings of popular movies, with popcorn.

Come at 11am on our Senior Tuesdays and check out our awesome Calvary Seniors Program!

Pastoral & Spiritual Care

Rev. Victor H. Floyd is our Minister for Spiritual Care. He makes hospital visits and checks in with those who are homebound or are experiencing a tough patch. If you would like to come by the church for prayer or a spiritual care sit-down visit, please email Rev. Victor at victorfloyd@calpres.org

If you or someone you know is hospitalized or in need of spiritual support, please be sure to check in with Rev. Victor (or any of our pastors) so that we may connect you with essential support and resources.

Upcoming Calvary Senior Adult Events

Church Night Lenten Studies - Handel’s Messiah in Lent
And we shall be changed. Starting February 26, Thursdays in Lent from 5:30-7:30pm
Additional groups will be offered on Sundays at 11:30am for those who cannot make it on Thursday. We encourage everyone, however, to attend Thursday nights whenever possible!
This Lenten Season, our “Church Night” Lenten Bible Study is for both the biblical seeker and the music lover. We will explore the scriptural texts of Handel's Messiah for Lent. While the first part of the Messiah is about the birth of Jesus, this musical journey is well-suited for Lent because it was originally written as an Easter offering, with its second and third parts focusing on Christ's Passion, death, resurrection, and ascension, making its themes of sacrifice, redemption, and glory ideal for the Lenten journey towards Easter.
Lenten Studies this year will be the focus of Church Nights which will be held on Thursdays of Lent from 5:30 – 7:30pm. Mark your calendars for 2/26, 3/5, 3/12, 3/19, 3/26, 4/2. Childcare provided for infants & toddlers, and special Lenten programming offered for youth and children.
This lenten journey will culminate with sections of Handel's Messiah presented in worship, with our Chancel Choir, soloists, and orchestra, on Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter. All ages welcome!

April 14 at 11am - Senior Tuesdays —Monet and Venice:  Docent Lecture
Although Claude Monet visited Venice only once, his paintings of the city are among his most dazzling. This exhibition, at the deYoung Museum until July 26, is the first dedicated to Monet’s Venetian cityscapes since their debut over a century ago. Featuring more than 100 artworks, the exhibition places Monet’s Venice paintings alongside select works from across his career, including his Water Lilies, as well as Venetian views by artists such as Renoir, Canaletto, and Turner. Docent Carol Porter will give us insights into this special exhibition that offers a rare opportunity to experience Monet’s vision of the famed Italian city.  Soup and salad lunch follows ($5 suggested donation).

FAQs

  • What are annual dues?

While most of the Senior programming costs are covered by Calvary, we ask Seniors to contribute $10 per annual year as their membership due as a gracious gift to help offset additional costs. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

  • Can I be a presenter?

We've had professional musicians, authors, artists, and more find Senior Tuesdays as a fun, volunteer speaking engagement. Calvary will promote your name around the church and on social media. Send us a message and we'll let you know!
