Senior Adults

For those young at heart (60+).

Find Fellowship at Calvary

Our Seniors are a lively crowd of artists, grandparents, travelers, singers, and more who join us weekly for 10am Sunday worship services or raise a ruckus at Senior Tuesdays. You are a welcomed addition to our happy band. You do not have to be a member of Calvary or espouse a religious tradition in order to participate wholeheartedly.

Senior Tuesdays

On the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, we hold special programming for Seniors (60+). If you're 18+, you are also welcome to join if you're interested in what we have going on! Most Senior Tuesday participants are not members of Calvary. All are welcome to find community here.

The 2nd Tuesday is usually a special presentation with topics like art, culture, music, safety, or health. 2nd Tuesday programs are followed by a soup and salad lunch for $5. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

The 4th Tuesday is a bring-your-own-lunch fellowship hour where Seniors are invited to eat and hang out. Currently, 4th Tuesdays include Tai Chi and oftentimes a volunteer service project.

During summer months, we hold two matinee screenings of popular movies, with popcorn.

Come at 11am on our Senior Tuesdays and check out our awesome Calvary Seniors Program!

Pastoral & Spiritual Care

Rev. Victor H. Floyd is our Minister for Spiritual Care. He makes hospital visits and checks in with those who are homebound or are experiencing a tough patch. If you would like to come by the church for prayer or a spiritual care sit-down visit, please email Rev. Victor at victorfloyd@calpres.org

If you or someone you know is hospitalized or in need of spiritual support, please be sure to check in with Rev. Victor (or any of our pastors) so that we may connect you with essential support and resources.

Senior Tuesdays:
AUTHOR GARY KAMIYA - COOL GRAY CITY OF LOVE: 49 VIEWS OF SAN FRANCISCO

TUESDAY, JUNE 9 • 11AM • FREE
Author, journalist and historian Gary Kamiya is the author of the bestselling books Cool Gray City of Love: 49 Views of San Francisco, which won the 2013 Northern California Book Award for creative nonfiction, and Spirits of San Francisco: Voyages Through the Unknown City, with artist Paul Madonna. His award-winning history column, “Portals of the Past,” ran in the San Francisco Chronicle and San Francisco Examiner for 10 years. He was a co-founder and longtime executive editor of Salon.com and the former executive editor of San Francisco Magazine.
His work has appeared in the New York Times Book Review, the Atlantic, ArtForum, Alta Journal, Sports Illustrated, and many other publications.
He writes a Substack called Kamiya Unlimited.
Gary will be talking about how he and Paul Madonna created Spirits of San Francisco, and focusing on perhaps the strangest neighborhood in San Francisco history: Dumpville, a long-running shantytown built atop the city's reeking garbage dump on the shores of Mission Creek.
Special hot lunch follows ($5 suggested donation), with a special dessert as we celebrate the end of our program year and honoring all of our Seniors, especially those with summer birthdays.
If this is your first time attending our Senior Adults program, please plan to arrive early to register.
ENNEAGRAM WORKSHOP: THE ENNEAGRAM AND STRESS
WITH REV. JOSEPH & SUZANNE STABILE, AND RUSS HUDSON

Friday & Saturday, June 12-13
Friday: Doors open 5pm • Teaching 6-9pm
Saturday: Doors open 8:30am • Teaching 9am-5pm
There will be a 90 minute lunch break at roughly 12:30pm on Saturday.

Stress is an inevitable part of life—but how we experience it, respond to it, and recover from it is deeply personal. This workshop uses the Enneagram as a practical tool to help you understand your unique stress patterns and develop healthier, more effective ways to navigate them.
Together, we’ll unpack:
* How your Enneagram type responds to stress and overwhelm
* Early warning signs that you’re moving into unhealthy patterns
* The connection between stress, emotions, and core motivations
* Type-specific strategies for grounding, resilience, and growth
You’ll leave with practical tools to manage stress with greater awareness, interrupt reactive cycles, and move toward a more balanced and centered version of yourself. Whether you’re feeling burned out or simply want to understand yourself better, this workshop offers meaningful insight and actionable steps for lasting change.

In partnership with Book Passage, we are honored, we are honored to welcome Dave Eggers for an evening celebrating the release of Contrapposto: A Novel. Contrapposto is a moving and very funny novel about allies and art, and what it means to be an artist. All through their lives, Cricket sees Olympia as his soulmate and destiny, and while she is always his champion, romantically her eyes are always seeking something—and someone—else. Their love changes over the decades, but their commitment to each other, and their search for meaning in the making of art, never wanes. The novel spans the globe, from New York to Cambodia, Indiana to Paris, and follows Cricket and Olympia through sickness and health, war and death.

Pauli Murray Documentary
SUNDAY, JULY 12, 2026 • 11:30 AM
LOUNGE • CALVARY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
Join us to watch this documentary on the life and work of Pauli Murray (1910-1985) who remains a towering figure in the history of American civil rights, LGBTQ rights, and religious history as the first Black woman ordained as an Episcopal priest. She was also the first Black person to earn a Doctoral of Juridical Science (JSD) from Yale Law School.
Murray worked alongside early civil rights organizers such as Bayard Ruston. While studying for her first law degree at Howard University in the early 1940s, she helped organize lunch counter sit-ins in Washington, D.C. to challenge local restaurants’ discriminatory policies. These actions were a predecessor to the more widespread sit-ins during the 1950s and 1960s.
The 2021 documentary My name is Pauli Murray brought her life work to a wider audience. Murray is remembered as a legal pioneer and visionary who challenged multiple systems of oppression while advocating for intersectional justice.

FAQs

  • What are annual dues?

While most of the Senior programming costs are covered by Calvary, we ask Seniors to contribute $10 per annual year as their membership due as a gracious gift to help offset additional costs. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

  • Can I be a presenter?

We've had professional musicians, authors, artists, and more find Senior Tuesdays as a fun, volunteer speaking engagement. Calvary will promote your name around the church and on social media. Send us a message and we'll let you know!
