Living Sanctuary (Immigrants & Refugees)
For those seeking sanctuary in the midst of transition.
Immigrants and refugees are welcome here
In accordance with Micah 6:8, Calvary is committed to the biblical teaching to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God. Welcoming and walking with immigrants and refugees in our city has been a long-time commitment for our congregation, even before we became a sanctuary church in 2018.
With your participation and support, Calvary will continue and expand this work, growing the impact we can make in San Francisco, the Bay Area, and the world.
We invite you to join us and get involved with Calvary’s Living Sanctuary Team!
Seeking Volunteers
Throughout the year, we offer one-time and ongoing serving opportunities. The Living Sanctuary team and its supporters have helped our immigrant friends by:
- Writing letters of support to immigrants in detention.
- Attending court hearings and appointments.
- Assisting with written and verbal translation opportunities. We’re in urgent need of Spanish-speaking volunteers!
- Connecting immigrants to local resources: sharing information about pop-up food pantries, pro-bono legal services, and other community partners.
- Reaching out to our networks to help find odd jobs.

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
