SUMMER CHOIR: GREAT ANTHEMS OF THE FAITH!
Continuing a long-standing Calvary tradition, our Chancel Choir will be transitioning into “summer choir” mode starting on Sunday, June 18. During the summer months we take a break from our normal Thursday night rehearsals, and meet only on Sunday mornings at 8:45 am. As part of that change in rehearsal schedule, we focus on more familiar, accessible standard choral classics so that anyone who wants to come and sing on Sunday’s will find the music a little easier to learn in one rehearsal than our normal eclectic, and often challenging, fare. This summer we’re exploring the broader theme of “Great Anthems of the Faith”, which will traverse a broad spectrum of venerable choral classics including Haydn’s “The Heavens Are Telling”, Bach’s “Dona Nobis Pacem” from the B Minor Mass, “Blessed are the Men who Fear Him” from Elijah, “Hark! I hear the harps eternal” of Parker & Shaw, and Christiansen’s immortal “Fairest Lord Jesus”.
Are you a singer who’s been on hiatus for awhile? Maybe you sang in school and have an itch to get back into a choir? Maybe you enjoy singing but have never been in a choir before! Well now is your chance. All are invited to drop in any Sunday at 8:45 am to rehearse and sing with us in the 10 am service. Try it, you just might like it!
