Chris Nichols, Tenor
Following his debut at the Oxford Lieder Festival in 2016, Chris has spent the last six years enjoying exploration of new repertoire. After decades singing as a baritone, encouraged by several professional musicians including Maxine Bernstein, Director of LIEDER ALIVE!, Chris undertook study with Heidi Moss, and later coaching with Peter Grünberg. Chris has performed in nearly a dozen recitals, numerous church services and concerts at Calvary Presbyterian Church in San Francisco. He has performed leading roles in opera productions, including the The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni and I Pagliacci. He is currently preparing for opera auditions in the Bay Area, studying the roles of Captain Vere in Britten’s Billy Budd, and Paul in Die Tote Stadt. Chris received both B.A. and M.A. in music composition, focusing performance on conducting and singing. He was admitted to the USC PhD program in voice. At UCLA he received the highest award given to graduate students, the Frank Sinatra Vocal Performance Award, singing Wagner.
Jefferson Packer, Pianist
Jefferson Packer is active as a singer and pianist throughout the Bay Area. Since receiving his degree in Piano Performance from San Francisco State University, he has accompanied numerous vocal and instrumental recitals, as well as opera and choral rehearsals and performances. In fact, he now leads the Sequoia Singers on Thursday mornings in the fireside lounge at 10:30. Please join them!
