Calvary Church, Early San Francisco, and the Racisms of the West

February 19 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

Did you know that Calvary’s organizing pastor, Rev. William Anderson Scott, once held slaves and publicly defended the Confederacy? In February, our nation celebrates Black History Month, and as a congregation committed to racial equity and justice, we hope to take an honest look at our own church’s history with racism and slavery. William Anderson Scott is also credited with founding San Francisco Theological Seminary, and Dr. Christopher Ocker, a church historian from the seminary, will come speak with us about the history we share together with San Francisco and California.
