From the Pews to the Public Square with Rev. Carmen Mason Browne
We are encouraged to live out our faith with The Bible in one hand and a newspaper in the other (Karl Barth). Our care and engagement for the community must include engagement with what happens in the public sphere and how our local laws and politics govern how justice and equity are administered in our city and in the world. How can Calvary be a space for deliberative dialogue, discourse, and discernment? And how might we take those important conversations and turn them into action and transformation in the public square?
The Rev. Carmen Mason Browne is the project consultant for the Grace and Restoration Project of the West Bay Region Anti Racism Project in San Francisco Presbytery. She has served as pastor in several congregations in Presbytery of the Redwoods, New York, and San Francisco. Her ministry has also been in community collaborative work with a focus on building healthy communities. She loves art, Chinese food, botanical gardens, nature, travel, films, and spending time with her husband and their three delightful grandchildren.
