In a few days a number of Calvary youth will be heading to the Heifer Ranch, a working farm in Perryville, AK.
Heifer International’s mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the Earth. This trip will give young members of the Calvary community insight into food production, help us learn more about where our food really comes from and how the US differs from other countries. The 1,200-acre Heifer Ranch is filled with gardens and animals and we will take part in a hands-on, interactive program and engage in activities that promote sustainable solutions to global hunger, poverty and environmental degradation. We will also take part in service programs that will give us a chance to give back while experiencing some things for the first time – like milking a goat or harvesting vegetables.
We hope the kids will share news and images (and maybe some video) from the trip. In the meantime, here is a video from a prior Calvary Youth Mission. It is produced by two Calvary kids, Henry Callander and Liam Mehilich.
