As members of the body of Christ, we are
asked to make a commitment of our time, talents and
resources as a faithful response to God and as a statement
of support for God's work.
We encourage you to consider the Five Steps
to Stewardship outlined below as you consider
your annual giving decision to Calvary:
5 STEPS TO STEWARDSHIP
1) Respond gratefully
All that we do is in response to God's grace. Everything
we are, have and use comes from God. It all begins
with God. Grateful stewards put God first. "...they
gave themselves first to the Lord" 2 Corinthians 8:5
2) Share abundantly
The purpose of God's gifts is for the good of God's
community. We give to grow the body of Christ. We
use and share the gifts God has given us for the benefit
of all. "And God is able
to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so
that by always having enough of everything, you may
share abundantly in every good work." 2 Corinthians
9:8
3) Give willingly
We have been prepared to give of ourselves. We give
our time, talents, and resources freely. "For
as I can testify, they voluntarily gave..." 2 Corinthians
8:3
4) Commit intentionally
As members in the body of Christ, we are asked to
make a commitment of our time, talents, and resources
as a faithful response to God and as a statement of
support for God's work. "…arrange
in advance for this bountiful gift that you have promised."
2 Corinthians 9:5
5) Consider tithing
A tithe is a tenth of a person's income that is provided
to support the work of the House of God, and those
who serve God in it. Please prayerfully consider tithing
as a goal. "Set apart a
tithe of all the yield of your seed that is brought
in yearly from the field." Deuteronomy 14:22
Together, these
scriptures and thoughts provide a wonderful guide
to Christian living.
Individually, they can provide
food for thought for each of us. Please consider God's
abundant blessings in your life as you consider your
giving decision.
