Rev. James Kitchens
James ("Jim") Kitchens is Calvary's Interim Pastor and Head of Staff. Rev. Kitchens is a native of Mississippi, and earned his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from Ole Miss. He later relocated to Berkeley to earn his Master's of Divinity degree at the Pacific School of Religion while also pursuing his Reformed studies at San Francisco Theological Seminary. He has served as an associate pastor at Oakland's First Presbyterian Church, pastor at Davis Community Presbyterian Church (CA), and pastor at Second Presbyterian Church in Nashville (TN). In addition to his church ministry, Jim played a major role in the development of the Bread of Life Center for Christian Formation in Davis, served a term as moderator of the Presbytery of Sacramento, served as Pastor-Theologian in Residence at the Center of Theological Inquiry (Princeton, NJ), and served on the Presbyterian Church (USA)'s Committee on Theological Education while also mentoring first-call pastors. Jim has also served on steering committees of regional chapters of both the Covenant Network of Presbyterians and More Light Presbyterians, and most recently chaired the Examinations Subcomittee on the Middle Tennessee Presbytery's Committee on Ministry. Jim is a published author, whose book, The Postmodern Parish: New Ministry for a New Era, focuses on creatively engaging rapidly changing cultural trends in the light of the Gospel. Jim lives in San Francisco with his wife Deborah—with two grown daughters, Jessica and Sara (and husband Will) nearby.

Rev. Catherine B. Oliver
Catherine B. Oliver is Calvary's Associate Pastor for Congregational Life and Care. Rev. Oliver is from Athens, Georgia. She earned a degree in Family and Child Development from Auburn University and her nursing degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Catherine is a graduate of San Francisco Theological Seminary where she is currently working on her D.Min. Prior to answering the call to Calvary, she served as the Director of Christian Education at FPC Mt.Dora and FPC Maitland in Central Florida. The last several years Rev. Oliver has served at the seminary as a Spiritual Director and Pastoral Counseling Associate for the Lloyd Pastoral Counseling Center, Adjunct teacher in Pastoral Counseling and Interim Director of Recruitment. She lives in San Anselmo with her husband Mike and their three daughters Hannah, Emily and Claire.

Rev. David Brown
David A. Brown is Calvary's Associate Pastor for Discipleship. He is a graduate of Colorado State University, Denver Seminary and San Francisco Theological Seminary, and has served congregations in San Francisco, Denver and Los Angeles—providing him with significant cross-cultural and multi-ethnic insight and experience. In addition to his ministry at Calvary, Rev. Brown serves on the board of the Ecumenical Campus Ministry at San Francisco State University. He and his wife Linda live in San Francisco, where they have sung in the San Francisco Symphony Chorus for seven years, and enjoy preparing a fine meal. They have three sons, one daughter and four grandchildren.

Alden Gilchrist
Alden Gilchrist is a native of Los Angeles. He has been Director of Music at Calvary Presbyterian Church since 1965. He served as the Calvary Presbyterian Church organist from 1951 to 1965. He is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley. As a recipient of the Prix de Paris, Mr. Gilchrist studied composition in Paris for three years. He has toured extensively in Europe in concert. Mr. Gilchrist is a founder and former president of MUST, Music in Schools Today and was recipient of the 1992 Prix de Martell award at the San Francisco Opera Guild Fol de Rol for "outstanding service in the San Francisco musical community."

Larry Gardner
Larry Gardner is a native of Port Arthur, Texas. Mr. Gardner was named Director of Administration for Calvary Presbyterian Church in 1999. He is a graduate of the University of Houston and Commonwealth College of Sciences. Prior to his involvement with Calvary, he was an Area Vice-President of operations for an international funeral service corporation. Mr. Gardner is the father of two sons.
